FBX to VRMA converter — animations for any VRM

VTubeMe FBX to VRMA Converter turns a Mixamo FBX or a GLB animation into a .vrma clip that plays on any VRM avatar, previewed before you download. You only pay for successful conversions.

Why a Mixamo clip needs converting

A Mixamo animation is written for Mixamo's own skeleton: every rotation is relative to how that rig stands at rest, and a hip can sit at 179° before the motion even starts. Played on another avatar as it is, the same numbers bend the wrong way. VRM Animation solves this by describing motion against the VRM humanoid instead of a particular rig, which is why one .vrma plays on every VRM.

So the converter does not copy the file — it re-bakes it. Each bone's motion is moved into the VRM humanoid's rest pose, frame by frame, and the rotations of intermediate bones the humanoid has no name for are incorporated into the mapped bones.

What you get

Comes across

  • Body, arms, legs, head and all five fingers per hand
  • The hips' movement through space — walks go somewhere
  • Twist and extra neck bone rotations, incorporated into mapped bones
  • The clip's name, length and frame count, shown on the result

Does not

  • Facial animation — the clip carries bones, not shape keys
  • Other clips in the same file — only the first with rotation channels
  • The character mesh of a Mixamo "with skin" download

Common questions

What files can I drop?

A binary FBX or a .glb with a skeletal animation in it. A Mixamo download works with or without skin: the character's mesh is ignored, only the motion is read. Only the first clip with rotation channels is converted.

Will it play on my avatar?

Yes, on any VRM. The motion is retargeted onto the VRM humanoid rather than copied bone for bone, so it no longer depends on the skeleton it was made for. Mixamo, Unreal, Unity and MetaPerson bone names are recognised, fingers included.

What does not come across?

Facial animation: the clip carries bone rotations and the hips' movement through space, not shape keys. Rotations from intermediate bones the VRM humanoid has no slot for, such as twist bones or an extra neck bone, are incorporated into the mapped humanoid bones.

Where can I use a .vrma?

Anywhere that reads VRM Animation: VRM viewers and three-vrm scenes load it next to the avatar. Our own viewer plays it on any .vrm in the browser.

How much does it cost?

Your first conversion is free. After that a single credit is $2.99, or packs: 3 for $7.99 or 8 for $14.99, shared with the other converters. A credit is only spent on a conversion that produced a clip — failures refund automatically, and you can refund yourself before downloading if the preview is wrong.

My Mixamo file is a character, not a motion

Then it is a model, and it goes through the model converter: a rigged Mixamo character becomes a VTubing-ready VRM there.

I just want ready-made motions

The poser's Animate tab has a library of motion-capture clips — idle, walk, dance and more — that preview free on your own model.
